Joseph Edward Garner
August 1, 1941 – August 17, 2020
Joseph Edward Garner, 79, was freed from Lewy body dementia on August 17, passing peacefully with his children by his side.
Loving known as Joe, he was born August 1, 1941 in Brook Spur, AR, and was the eldest son of Hontus and Mary Ruth Garner.
Joe spent more than 30 years as a project engineer at NASA, retiring in 1997 after a career supporting human spaceflight missions for the Gemini, Apollo and Space Shuttle programs. A University of Arkansas graduate and Army veteran, he lived in Orlando since 1988.
Joe is survived by his children Breit Garner (Tammy) and Rae Ward (Dan) and by his beloved granddaughters Audrey, Alyssa, Megan and Makenna. He will be sorely missed by his brothers Rodger (Carla), Garland (Teresa) and Billy (Dianne), and a niece and many nephews.
Services will be held at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at 2:30 PM on September 28th with a celebration of life following at the Holiday Inn Titusville – KSC.
