Obituary
Joseph Carmen Pedalino, 76, of New Smyrna Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 in Jacksonville, Fl. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Joey was born on September 14, 1947 in Nutley, New Jersey, to Peter and Lena Pedalino. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Donna Esposito Pedalino. He leaves behind his daughter, Jacey Pedalino Miller, her spouse Bob Miller, and his granddaughters Sadie (20) and Lena (17), as well as his son Jarrett Pedalino, his spouse Kristin Johnson Pedalino, and his grandsons, Owen (12) and Oliver (9). He also leaves his brother Salvatore Pedalino and sister, Florence Pedalino Wylde as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Veda Pedalino Michura and Jeanne Pedalino.
Joey was drafted in 1968 and was part of the 299th Combat Engineer Battalion, Company C of the US Army. He actively served his country in Vietnam, seeing combat in Pleiku and Kon Tum. When he returned from Vietnam, he started working in the fashion industry, running the family business (Pedalino Dress Company). During this time he earned his degree from FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in New York City. He furthered his career as the Director of Quality Control for Liz Claiborne, Old Navy, and Tommy Hilfiger. This job had him traveling regularly to the Dominican Republic and Mexico for several years.
Once he retired at age 59, he had more time to pursue his passions, of which he had many–enjoying hot dogs and Italian food, buying many types of cars, traveling all over the world, puttering in the yard and the garage, and fixing anything that was broken. He was a proud owner of a new Corvette and was a member of the Ponce Inlet Corvette Club. He touched many lives that will dearly miss his sense of adventure and humor.
A Celebration of Joseph’s life, including Military Honors, will be held in Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society, located at 1 North Causeway, New Smyrna Beach, FL on Friday, August 16th at 11 o’clock in the morning.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Jude’s Hospital for children or to the American Heart Association.
