Obituary

Joseph Stephen Gandolfi, 57, passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2016 at Florida Hospital New Smyrna. He was the beloved husband of Denise Daniels Gandolfi. They shared almost 33 years of marriage together.

Born in Parma, Italy, he was the son of the late Giovanni Gandolfi and Louise Gandolfi of Port Orange, Florida. He was a graduate of Natick High School and attended Boston University and Boston Architectural College. He was the owner/operator of Joe Gandolfi Landscape Design for the past 29 years.

He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. He loved watching old westerns, hanging out at the beach with his family, spending time with his wife gardening their beautiful yard and most of all being with his grandson Gavin who he loved to take on walks and was teaching how to play soccer.

He will be remembered for his contagious smile, huge heart and his love for life. He was kind, loving and selfless. He was taken far too soon and will be missed greatly.

He is survived by his mother, Louise Gandolfi, his wife Denise, his daughter Danielle Sandhagen and her husband Greg Sandhagen and his grandson Gavin Sandhagen. He is also survived by cousins, brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews.

Joe’s Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, July 12 at 4pm at Baldwin Brothers, 1 North Causeway, New Smyrna Beach. After the celebration, the family welcomes you to come to 27th Ave on the beach to pay your final respects.

Joe has been my Gardner for many years. He was a kind man and I loved to chat with him about politics and current events. I always learned something from these chats. Joe went above and beyond anything that was expected of him. He spotted a loose shingle on my roof and without hesitation took his ladder, went up on the roof and fixed it. One of many things he did which was just out of kindness. I was so saddened to read that Joe has passed away. I will miss him. My heartfelt sympathy to you and your family, Denise.

So saddened to hear of Joe's passing. He will forever be my "first date with a boy" in his classic truck, and my first high school "boyfriend" - only because my parents liked and trusted him! I will always remember Joe as sweet, innocent, kind and so loving to his parents and family. What a soccer player! Though we lost touch, I am happy to read what a beautiful life he has created, My heart goes out to his family, especially wife and mother.
    In prayer, Jeanne Wallace

Joe was a close friend from many years ago. Countless great memories of him all around our home town. Our deepest sympathies to Denise, Danielle, and Louise. I know he was a good son and I'm sure he was a tremendous husband and father and a new grandfather. Such a sudden, unexpected loss.
