Obituary
Joseph R. Zawacki (Joe), 78, of Ormond Beach Fl, departed this life on Wednesday October 19, 2022, in his home in Florida with his wife and son by his side under hospice care.
Joe was born on March 19th, 1944, in Newark, NJ to the late Anthony Zawacki and Mary Nowalowski. Joe had two brothers, Bob and Ron. During high school he was an athlete and lettered in track. He attended Seton Hall University, and Michigan State University where he learned Business Administration and Telecommunications. He also served in the United States Navy where he received an honorable discharge. His career took him across the country from Jersey to Florida, Florida to Oregon, Oregon to Las Vegas, Atlanta and then back to Florida. His careers included telecommunications, manufacturing, and he finally retired as purchasing manager for Advance Ordnance Corp.
His friends and family knew him as an avid fan of sports and lover of music. His favorite sports teams were the New York Giants, and New York Mets. He loved listening to and attending live music. There was not a musical on television that he did not watch or own on DVD. Some of his favorite music artists you would hear playing were Stevie Nicks, ABBA, Bee Gees, Fleetwood Mac, and Bon Jovi to name a few. He and his wife were known at the local FOE to be the last two on the dance floor until the music stopped. His hobbies were collecting baseball cards and collectibles with his son, crossword puzzles, backgammon, golf, bowling, and skydiving in his younger years. Joe was a lover of animals, and he was inseparable from his latest pet named Boozer. He also enjoyed his road trips to Georgia spending time with his grandchildren and son. He was an active member of local clubs Fraternity of Eagles, and the American Legion of Ormond Beach Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Zawacki, son JA, and two grandchildren Jacob and Savannah of Georgia.
