Obituary

Josephine W. P. Awitan, 76, passed away at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House in Palm Coast, Florida.

Josephine is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Ariston Awitan, and her son, Raymond Wheeler. She is also survived by her brothers, Carl, Raymond, and Moses, and her sisters Loretta and Rosalinda, as well as many loving nephews, nieces, and cousins around the country.

Josephine was born in Manila, Philippines. She moved to New York as a teenager. Josephine modeled for many years in her 20’s, which included being the picture face of advertising for Chase Manhattan Bank, and Mai Tai cocktail drink mix among others. She gave birth to her only child, Raymond in 1967. She lived in Hawaii and California from her late 30’s until her late 60’s. She worked in the Hotel & Restaurant business for nearly two decades and worked in the Real Estate & Property Management business for another couple of decades. Josephine also owned & operated a couple of business along the way in the form of a Video Rental Store and a Flower Shop. She retired then moved to Palm Coast Florida in 2015, where she and her son, owned and managed rental properties.

Josephine loved life like no other. She traveled to many states and countries. She touched many lives and made many friends along the way. She was a “natural” friendly, humorous, charming, and caring person that many people loved, admired, and gravitated to. As the oldest daughter of seven children, she was the Matriarch of the family. Please remember the good times you had with Josephine.

My Last Words and Prayer Today

    My Beloved Wife, Josephine

    Reynolds Wheeler Phillips Awitan,

I admire you for being street smart,
for your series of successes in
several responsible positions that you handled in the competitive
businesses, starting as a model to management positions in the Banks, lawyer's
and Insurance offices, Restaurants, Real Estate Businesses in big cities like
New York, California, Hawaii and Florida,

I admire your constant quest for a meaningful and happy life
Looking at God's creations in your travels in some areas around the world,

I admire you for being a person who seriously guards her privacy,
For being passionately caring and loving
And for being an outstanding entrepreneur who knows what you want in life.

     Our 15 months of wonderful
    relationship, appears like a pleasant
    dream
    that was absolutely fulfilling while
    it lasted.
But since we had been together 24/7
    since the unwelcomed arrival of
    Covid 19,
that 15 months that made us choose
    to self-quarantine ourselves at home,
seems like 15 years to me.

    We shared our joys,
    pleasant
    waves of laughter,
    challenges, pain and
    suffering  trusting, and believing
with a strong faith in the Lord Jesus.

    Sometimes we wondered,
    because we
    did not understand, why
the challenge, like the rapid growth of
    cancer,
    was given to you.

    But because of our faith,
    we kept on
    the fight,
    trying to reverse this
    serious disease.

We remembered the Prophet Isaiah who said long time ago, "But they who wait on the Lord
shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and
not be weary, they shall walk and not faint".(Isaiah 40:31)

But you were weary and tired, Hon, you probably realized it's time to give up, however,
there is good news for all of us! Jesus bids us to come to him, when he said,
"Come to me all who are weary and tired and I will give you rest".(Matthew11:28)

You and I did not complain,
    we
    accepted our circumstances
    because of our strong belief,
trust and faith in Our God,
that HE has a plan for each of us.

My dear Hon, you have been
    faithful to the Lord,
    obeying His
    commandments and decrees.
    So, we believe and pray,
    that
    the Heavenly Father  forgives all
    your sins
And hold you in the palm of His
    hands,
    And carry you with Him,
    to your home in Heaven
that He has prepared for you,
To enjoy the everlasting life of
    happiness forever.

We ask this in the Mighty Name of
    Jesus, Your
    Son, Our Lord,
    Who lives and
    reigns with You
in the Unity of the Holy Spirit,
    One God, forever and ever,
    AMEN.
