Obituary

Joyce Arlene Bauer, 88, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2013 in Port Orange, Florida.  Joyce was born to the late Levi and Josephine Geiger on May 27, 1924 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and moved to Beacon, New York in the 1940s. She worked at Texaco Research Labs in Glenham where she met her loving husband, Dettmer A. Bauer, who predeceased her. They made their home in Beacon for almost 40 years, where they were active in the First Presbyterian Church. Joyce retired from Albany Savings Bank in 1983 and she and her husband moved to New Smyrna Beach, FL, where, together, they enjoyed almost 30 years of retirement. Joyce and Dettmer loved road trips and travelled all over the country, visiting their 21 brothers and sisters.   Joyce was predeceased by six brothers and one sister, leaving behind her brother Jack (Rita) Geiger and her sister Ethelyn Mathis. She is also survived by her children—daughters Kristin D. Bauer, Alexandria, VA, Deborah E. Ahlgren, New Smyrna Beach, FL and her son William D. Bauer (Linda), Canton, NC, six grandchildren, Erik, Nina and Ethan Ahlgren, Veronica (Tyler) Whittington, Amber (Scott) Allen, Kari Inman, six great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Richard Ahlgren.   Memorial donations are suggested to the Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Joyce will be inurned beside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.   She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
