Obituary
Joyce “McKenzie” Laird passed away peacefully on May 14th with her family by her side, and her daughters holding her hands.
Joyce was loved by so many and had many names by those that she cared for…Momma Joyce, Momasan, Mom, Mother, and most special Mamma, that her first born grandchild gave her and it forever stayed. It only signifies the love & spirit that she had for her family as well as those that she welcomed into her family.
She enjoyed many years of loving & celebrating her family while living a lake life full of cookouts, cornhole games, boat rides, bonfires, card games, and more. She never missed a sporting event of her children whether it be softball, baseball, basketball, golf or football. Come evenings she would spend her time doing puzzles, watching sunsets, and being grateful for what life has given her.
She married her high school sweetheart in 1973. They always knew they would make it back down to Florida where they both spent many childhood years and they found a peaceful life to retire, in Punta Gorda, Florida. They made many special friends and enjoyed their lives between Florida and “home”.
She also lived a life of loving her fur baby’s and grand fur baby’s.
She is survived by her husband Robert, of 51 years. Daughters, Jennifer (Jamie) Six and Jaime (Shaun) Fisher. Grandchildren Alyssa Fisher, Kylee, Robbie (Baby Jesus), and Dustin Six. Brothers Jack (Chris) McKenzie, Mark (Denise) McKenzie, and David (Angie) McKenzie. Sister Tammy (Bill) George. And special friend, Pamela Roberts.
She is proceeded in death by her beloved parents, Malcolm and Elizabeth Mckenzie and her treasured in-laws, James & Grace Laird.
And lastly, we give blessing to the arms that she’s been awaiting, her beautiful grandchild Taylor Marie Fisher… may you both dance in peace.
Baldwin Brothers of Port Charlotte is honored to serve the Laird family.

1956 Joyce sitting with my mom Diane MacKenzie Chatfield. Brothers married sisters but Mackenzie was spelled differently because one was born in Canada and the other in Michigan and they never changed it.
