Obituary

Joyce Marie Kane (née Feuerstein) went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2024, in Ocala, Florida, at the age of 87, surrounded by her four loving children. She was born in Buffalo, New York, in February of 1937 to parents Clarence & Frieda Feuerstein (née Wild).

Joyce graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy and went on to complete a bachelor’s degree in business administration management from Penn State University. She later worked as a civilian Logistics Manager for the U.S. Navy in Mechanicsburg, PA, until she retired in 2000.

After retiring, Joyce relocated to Ocala, Florida, where she actively engaged with her community and found solace in her involvement with the Queen of Peace Catholic church. Known for her outgoing nature, Joyce embraced various hobbies including ballroom dancing, traveling, painting ceramics, gardening, Mah Jong and playing cards on a weekly basis with friends including her Bridge partner, Steve. She dedicated herself to competing in genuine ACBL Duplicate tournaments in Pennsylvania, earning an impressive tally of over 125 masters’ points. Above all, Joyce cherished moments spent with loved ones and took joy in hosting gatherings in her home.

Joyce was an active member (treasurer) of CCW (Council of Catholic Women), which supported women’s prayer life and their mission was to give to the poor. Joyce sponsored a child from Nigeria through Christian Foundation for Children and Aging. She was also involved with the Renaissance Women Club and the Oak Run Republican club. She was the Chairwoman of Precinct 4110 at her local RNC, and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence & Frieda Feuerstein, and her nephew and godson Michael Mings.

Joyce is survived by her four children: Son, Dr. John Kane (Laura) of Oakton, Virginia; Daughter, Susan Steager (Brian) of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania; Daughter, Patricia Dombroski (Allan) of Ontario, New York; and Daughter, Barbara Campbell (Russell) of Robertsdale, Alabama; additionally, her 8 grandchildren: Jeanette, Amanda, Christine, Jennifer, Julie, Jessica, Melissa, Alex, as well as 10 great-grandchildren, her sister Janice Mings of West Seneca, New York; Niece, Mary; and Nephew, Timothy.
