Obituary
Joyce Carol Ravenstien (Burian) was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world peacefully at home in Lehigh Acres, Florida on August 18, 2023, at age 80.
She was born to Edward and Ethel Naoma (Gregg) Burian on October 15, 1942, in Smith Center, Kansas. After Joyce left home, she became a caring wife and mother of 2. She had a lifelong career at the Reno County Weed Department as an administrative assistant and a noxious weed sprayer (she liked to refer to herself as the Weed Lady).
Joyce loved to play Farkle, Yahtzee, quilt, crochet, collect cigarette lighters, do ceramics, watch John Wayne, Chuck Norris, Disney (especially Bambi) and dinosaur movies, go to dinosaur exhibits, and filled her home with friends and classic country music.
Joyce was preceded in death by her Parents, Brothers Errol, Raymond and Paul Burian. Husband Darrel Oliver, Raymond Porting and Larry Ravenstien
Joyce left behind 2 daughters: Tina (Matthew) Schafer of Mount Pleasant Michigan. Terry Hooker of Lehigh Acres, Florida. Sister Elaine (Tim) Burch of Salina, Kansas, Brother Allen (Sue) Burian of Sterling Heights, Michigan, Grandchildren; Christopher Ellsworth, Levi Smith, Kallieandra Oliver, Catrina (Nick) Bates, Austin Hooker, Great Grandson Sebastian, and another Great Grandson on the way.
Cremation took place in Florida in August.
Graveside service scheduled at 2 pm on October 5, 2023, at Fairlawn Cemetery 2401 Carey Blvd, Hutchinson, Kansas, with a Celebration of Life Lunch following at 2 Emerson Loop, Builder’s Building in Carey Park, South Hutchinson, Kansas 67501.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hope Hospice #410 Lehigh Acres, Florida, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital on her behalf.
