Obituary

Mrs. Judith “Judy” Murray (née Hall) died peacefully on 9/11/22 in New Smyrna Beach, Florida at the age of 86.

Judy is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Egan (nee Murray) of New Smyrna Beach, Fl (James P. Egan, husband) and Susan Guszynski (nee Murray, Jeff Guszynski, husband), Judy was “Gigi” to Zach, Jeffrey, Nick and Matthew Guszynksi. Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Murray.

Judy was born on July 8th, 1936 in Jacksonville, Fl to Julius Caesar and Alice Hall. She graduated from the University of Florida in 1958 with a degree in Elementary Education. She was a proud member of the Phi Mu sorority while attending the University of Florida. Judy married the love of her life, Mike Murray in 1967.  Mike’s career provided the adventure and opportunity to move around the country with their family. After leaving Jacksonville, Judy and her family moved to Bucksport, Maine, Tacoma, Washington, and Strongsville, Ohio. She moved back to her home state of Florida in 1996 where she resided in Heathrow and DeLand.

Judy was an enthusiastic Florida Gator fan and often spent her Saturdays cheering on her alma mater. After Judy’s husband’s passing in 2017, Judy made the decision to move next door to her daughter, Mary Ann, and her husband Jim at Diamond Head Point Condos in New Smyrna Beach, FL.  She found joy in watching the dolphins play, beautiful sunrises, and boats going by from her condo. Her neighbors and friends describe Judy as always having a smile on her face and taking pride in her daily stylish outfits. Whether it was taking her dogs, Polo and Annie on a walk or leaving for an afternoon of lunch and shopping with Mary Ann, she always had a giggle and smile for all she encountered. Judy found great joy in spending time with her son-in-law, Jim who always kept her laughing.

An informal celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date to remember the shining light of Judy Murray.
