Obituary

Judith Lynn Meigs, age 77, of Titusville, Florida, passed away in her home on January 30, 2024. Judi was born December 29, 1946 to William and June Adele Hart (Trappe), in Baltimore, Maryland. After Judi graduated from Eastern High School in Baltimore, in 1964, she went to Essex Community College for her Associate in Arts degree, and then received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from University of Baltimore in 1981.

Judi worked for Equitable Bank in Baltimore, where she met her late husband, Chuck Meigs. They married May 24, 1974. Judi later found her niche at St. Paul’s School for Boys, where she remained for the rest of her career. There she worked for the Development Office and managed funding campaigns for the school.

In 1983, Judi and Chuck started camping with a 1976 24’ Southwind motor home and enjoyed five additional motor homes over the next three decades. They traveled extensively cross country several times and enjoyed the camaraderie of many camping clubs. Judi and Chuck retired to The Great Outdoors in Titusville in 2006.

Judi led an active life at The Great Outdoors, as a caller for Bingo nights, participating on a weekly bowling team, organizing outings and monthly lunches with the Madhatters, and more. Judi was honored as The Great Outdoors Community Services Association Volunteer of the Year for 2015 – 2016. She was instrumental in starting “Christmas Delights” a charity event that took place yearly on Twin Lakes Drive.

Judi was predeceased by her sister Margie and husband Chuck. She is survived by her son Ronald Weldon and wife Audrey Bergin, her sister Marianne Hart, brother Bob Hart, extended family and many friends.

Services will be held at Baldwin Funeral & Cremations on Saturday, March 30th, 2024 at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the local ASPCA in Titusville or the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in Tampa.

Judi was my second cousin and we used to say we were identical cousins like on the Patty Duke old TV show, but we couldn’t have been more different. Judi is the reason I live in TGO. She found my house, my golf cart, and most of my friends. She made me join the activities she belonged to and some were way out of my comfort zone ( like bowling and cards). It’s thanks to Judi that I have a great place to live. I can’t believe she’s not here anymore.

    Ronald & Audrey,
When Chuck & Judi got married in 1974, we would visit them once a year until they moved to Florida. At that time going forward we would
visit them once every 18 months. Chuck was my Brother. Brother Veteran as we were in the Army Band in the 60's, and a Brother Mason.
Judi was a fantastic person. We will miss her. She was one of a kind. RIP.
On January 30, 2024 Chuck reached out his hand and took Judi from us. Now both of them are spending their eternal lives together in heaven.

I will remember Judi as a wonderful neighbor and volunteer at The Great Outdoors community. She and her friends and neighbors hosted a wonderful hotdog lunch on Twin Lakes for our employees every year. That tradition she started has carried on. We honored her last week at our annual employee hotdog lunch. My condolences to Judi’s family and friends.
