Obituary

Judith (Judy) Brown was born and lived in New Jersey her entire life before retiring to Florida.  She died on Wednesday, September 19, 2018in Estero, Florida.

She is survived by her husband Norman, of 55 years, two sons Matthew and Thomas and their respective wife’s Lizanne and Laura.  Her twin sister Janice Flannery resides in Delaware. She also leaves a cousin Jack Fitzgibbon and his wife Kathleen and two lifelong friends, Jenny Hodulich and Florence Krystofiak.

Judy received her Bachelor of Arts degree in education for Kean University, a Master’s degree in reading from Monmouth University, a Master’s degree in special education from Georgian Court University and a certification in administration/supervision from Jersey City State College.  She was passionate about her work with special education students. Acting as a member of a Child Study Team at Tom’s River High School East, she evaluated students for eligibility for special education, wrote programs to accommodate their needs and consulted with teacher in meeting their individual needs.  Judy found her life work with students, parents and teacher’s personally fulfilling and rewarding.  As an Adjunct Instructor at Ocean County College for the final ten years of her career, she hoped to positively influence future special education teachers.

Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, Make-A-Wish Foundation or a charity of personal choice.
