She was an RN at North Kansas City Hospital for 23 years. She and Phil were fully enjoying retirement as Snowbirds with their many friends in Ormond Beach, Florida. She adored spending time with her grandkids, and visiting the ocean to watch the waves. She is survived by her daughter, Heather Krokstrom, husband Mark, and their three children, Aidan, Haley, and Avery; son, Sean McCombs, wife Melinda, and their son, Devin; step-daughter Jennifer Dougan, husband Tim, and their children Brenna, Fiona, Declan, and Cormac; step-son Brad Rutkowski; sister Pamela Vandel; brother James Pataky; and many loving members of Phil's family.
