Obituary
Judith Van Wyck Fleet, of Ocala FL, peacefully left us on May 16, 2019, after a brief illness, surrounded by family. Judith was born on April 4, 1937 in Port Washington, NY to Samuel and Dorothea Van Wyck Fleet III. She attended the University of Maine and graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Marine Biology. Upon retirement, Judith had a career as a Clinical Research Scientist with Burroughs Wellcome.
Traveling around the world as often as possible was her number one hobby during retirement.
Judith is survived by a daughter, Aari Zagarella, of Raleigh NC, Walker Whitfield, grandson, of Tallahassee FL, Brennan Whitfield, granddaughter, of Raleigh NC, and nephews Davis Hawkowl, Daniel Chapman, and Timothy Chapman.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the ICU staff at West Marion Community Hospital for their tireless efforts, and to the nurses at Hospice of Marion County for their warm compassion and assistance.
