June S. Cole

June S. Cole passed away on June 12th, 2021 at the age of 94.

 

Born in Schenectady, New York September 5, 1926 to the late John A. Scott, an engineer with GE, and Wilma D. Scott, Director of Parent Education for the Schenectady School System. June graduated from Nott Terrace High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University in Child Development in the school of Home Economics. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority where she was Vice President.

 

She taught school in Schenectady before marrying Edwin B. Cole in 1948. They moved to Coral Gables, Florida and later to Miami Shores, Florida. June was active in the Miami Shores Presbyterian Church as a Circle Leader and co-founder of the church kindergarten where she taught for many years, She was also President of her PEO chapter, a sisterhood sorority, the Miami Shores Garden Club and an investment club. June loved golf, tennis, boating and cruising.

 

Her life was devoted to her husband, children and their welfare. She was a loving, caring and supportive wife. They were married for 68 years. June passes on a legacy that will be remembered as a life of love and care for family and friends. She will be remembered always as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was always there when needed by family members.

 

Their home was in Miami Shores until 1995 when they moved to Delray Dunes Country Club in Boynton Beach, Florida in the winter and Newland, NC in the summer at Mountain Glen Country Club. They were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Delray Beach, Florida. In 2009, they moved to the Mayflower retirement center in Winter Park, Florida. She is predeceased by her husband Edwin B. Cole.

 

The Coles have three daughters: Mrs. Patricia Morley (Dr. Patrick) of Winter Park, Florida; Mrs. Nancy Wilson (Henry Kyser) of Birmingham, Alabama and Mrs. Marilyn Chrastina (Randy) of Oviedo, Florida and four grandchildren: Jennifer Morley Simmons (Jay), John Cole Morley (Laurelyn), Christy Wilson Dillon (Jay) and Sara Wilson Gunnells (Dr. Drew). The Coles also had twelve great grandchildren: Michael, Joshua, Madeline and Isaac Dillon; Hadley, Anna and Harper Gunnells, Story and Annie Simmons; Callie and Davis Morley and Leighton Uptain.

 

No memorial service has been planned.
