Obituary
Katherine “Katie” L. Bingay 84 years old, passed away at home on Wednesday August 10, 2016. She was born in Port Chester, NY and grew up in Rye, NY. Katie moved to Daytona Beach, FL in 1954. She is predeceased by her parents Guy Combald Bingay of Novia Scotia, Canada and Constance McGrath Bingay of New Jersey and several aunts and uncles. She leaves behind four children, Charles Tiffin of Edgewater, FL, Constance McNamara of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Barney Markham of Edgewater, FL, Guy Scott Markham of New Smyrna Beach, FL. She will be missed by her son-in-law Rick McNamara, grandchildren, Chris Warfield and his wife Tonya, Salina Becker and her husband Will, Britany Antalek and her husband Nick and Ricky McNamara and his wife Lorena, along with four great-grandchildren Jonah, Korbin, Nicole and Rhys. Katie settled in Daytona Beach in 1954 working at Steak n Shake beachside Daytona Beach. She was a singer with a small band, enjoyed Sweet Adelines, attended Mary Karl Vocational School of Practical Nursing, worked as a Ward Clerk at Halifax Hospital, and Ormond Memorial Hospital, worked as a medical transcriptionist at Bert Fish Hospital and for Fred Albee, M.D. and worked as a drug and alcohol counselor with Act Corporation as well as with a group in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She had a quick witt, loved to sing and dance, a contagious smile that could turn your day around and she was always open for a new adventure. Heartfelt thanks go out to her physician Mario Cuchiarello and his staff and to Vitas Hospice for their loving care for her and her family and friends in her last days (i.e. Jenny (Mary), Brenda, Vanessa, Tina, Raphael and so many others). Katie’s wish was for a celebration of life memorial rather than a service.
You will be missed by all of us♥
