Obituary
Katherine quietly passed from this world into Our Lord’s heavenly kingdom after a brief illness. She lived 90 exceptional years.
Born and raised in Detroit, she was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Andrew Pitsos, as well as her sister Nancy Hallman. She will be missed every day by her companion, Martin Mogge, as well as her three nephews’ David Hallman, Thomas (Kirie) Hallman and Robert (Dawn) Hallman. Kay’s great nieces and nephews will miss the stories and insight she brought to every social setting.
Kay was a private person whose passions included painting, cooking and a curiosity about her Greek heritage. She was a member of Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church in Ft. Myers and she lived her life as a generous and charitable example of what it meant to be Catholic.
Jacques Pepin was her favorite chef and she lived in the worlds of French and American cuisine. A glass of wine and a favorite recipe always ensured a delicious meal.
In an era when women faced obstacles in business, Kay forged a career at various law offices. Although she lacked a formal education, Kay pushed forward to achieve success. Her resilience and discipline served her well.
Kay’s mortal remains will be interred next to her mother and father at St. Thomas Catholic cemetery in Ann Arbor Michigan. There are no services planned at this time.
