Obituary

Kathleen Anne Schumacher

Born June 5, 1953

Died Nov. 24, 2016

Kathleen Anne Schumacher of Orlando, FL, died peacefully at home following a courageous battle with cancer on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 2016.  She was surrounded by her family.  Kathleen, best known as Kathy, Freak-Toes, Freak-Toes-Larue , Toes, Crazy Single Cat Woman or  Mama – depending on your relationship with her – was inspirational at home, at work and at play.

Her family cherished her loving and generous spirit.

Her friends reveled in her spontaneity and fun-loving nature.

Co-workers valued her feisty, “get-it-done” attitude.

Along with her family and friends, Kathy loved her feline companions who filled her life with joy – Shelby (still living) Shadow, Tuna Moon and Skylar.

Kathy worked with her father, the Executive Director of AESF as an Exhibit Manager.  She was with the American Electroplaters Surface Finishing Society (AESF) for 19 years.  Following her departure from this organization, Kathy joined the Florida Department of Environmental Protection working as an administrative assistant.

Kathy was a loving mom to Michael Brandon, 25, who continues to reside in her home.

She was a wonderful daughter to John Howard Schumacher, Jr. and Sally Eleanor Boudreau Schumacher who both reside in Orlando, Fl.

Kathy was a supportive sister to Helen Schumacher Donaher and her husband, Kevin of Burlington, Connecticut, Joan Schumacher of Manhattan, New York, John Schumacher of Oakland, California and Dianne Schumacher Zywica of Altamonte Springs, Florida.

Sadly, Kathy was predeceased by her brother Lawrence (Larry) Schumacher of Ocoee, Florida.

In addition to her siblings, Kathy has many loved uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Kathy was raised in a strong Catholic family and has maintained a strong Christian faith.

This amazing woman was celebrated at a small family celebration on Sunday, Nov. 27th.  She will have a private celebration of her life some time in early December.  Interested viewers should contact The Baldwin Cremation services at 407 – 622 – 0000.

My Dear Oldest Sister and Friend Kathy,
Never read your obituary until today 3/26/17. Very difficult, but to read all the Tributes to you made it somewhat easier. You were SO loved by not only our close knit family, but all your many friends and colleagues.
The crystal kitty that you handed to me shortly before you passed away sits on shelf above kitchen sink in addition to a crystal owl Michael gave me. Unfortunately, you passed before you were able to put the crystal squirrel into my hand. Michael will do that in your honor soon. Know how you loved the crystals and will cherish and care for them always.
You must be there in Heaven being SO proud of Michael. He's back in college and doing so well. I was very afraid he would fall apart after losing you. He's such a smart and strong young man!
Miss you terribly, but know you're in a better place and not suffering any longer. God Bless You Kath!

I am not sure your son will read this. But I am always thinking of him and praying for him. Kathy would have wanted us to have a great NEW year. She was so positive and charming. She had the most beautiful eyes, now she is the most beautiful angel. She continued being a inspiration through her illness. She didn't give up! Her body did. I miss you my friend, work isn't the same at the DEP where I was blessed to met you.

Kathy was a spitfire.. always smiling and spreading her cheerful spirit. She was truly a amazing person. She could fix anything. She always spoke of her son Michael. She told me a wonderful story about going to work with Michael. She was working the register at his job and accidently took the bait money out of the drawer and the alarm went off. She loved that day and sharing that time with her son. She handled herself with bravery and kept moving forward. Thank you for your free spirit and your passion for people and animals. I will truly miss your smile and your friendship. Heaven is blessed.

My dear, dear friend - how I will miss you but know you are in a much better place and no longer in any pain. For that I am thankful. I will miss our phone calls and our few visits over the past 13 years. And did we ever have so much fun together for years before that. I will keep an eye out for your "little peanut" for you but I know you will be looking down upon him, your family and friends. Rest now in the arms of Jesus - Bless you my sweet friend - I love you.

Kathy Schumacher was my dear friend (colleague) of mine and when I was here, not one day would pass on me without seeing her. She was a great inspiration to all of us and in all cases of work, and support, our jobs would not complete without her input. May God give her peace and comfort in eternity as she has started a completely new life in heavens!!
