On January 24th at 10:06 am, surrounded by her family in her home, Kathy Grant passed away peacefully. She is survived by her mother Frances Kane, loving husband William “Bartie” Grant, sons Jason & Wesley Grant, sister Mary Ellen Rose, brother Tom Kane, grandchildren, Olivia & Devon Grant, step-grandchild, Ariana Stitt, daughter-in-law Amanda Grant, brother-in-law Jim Rose, sister-in-law Kathy Kane, and so many other family and friends.

Growing up in Manassas, Virginia, Kathy met her future husband, Bartie, at an early age. Together, they were inseparable from 13 years old, and went on to marry as teenagers. Both Kathy and Bartie attended Stonewall Jackson High School, and soon after started a family with their two sons. They formed a plumbing business together, that after all these years, still thrives today. With an expanding business, Kathy and Bartie sought an untapped market in an undeveloped Stafford, Virginia/ After many hard-working years, and harsh winters, Kathy and Bartie decided to take up residence in the sunny state of Florida.

Continuing to run the daily operations of their business, Kathy still managed to enjoy the many perks of Florida living. Ultimately laying by their pool and enjoying the sunshine was a true passion for her, but overall favored the many visits from her family and friends. Outside of work, Kathy loved her family, her church, her puppies, the beach, and gave her heart unconditionally to her family and faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many.

As fate would have it, on her last full day on this Earth, the ambulance transporting her home broke down on the side of the road. Kathy spent the hour with a beaming smile, and with the sun shining on her face and the breeze blowing through her hair. We find comfort in knowing she was able to enjoy all of God’s divine gifts before leaving us. Her passing has left a hole in our family in the depths of which are difficult to comprehend, but our hearts are full of her love. Knowing she is at peace, watching over us with her beautiful smile, is incredibly heartwarming and assuring.

There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony in the coming months with family and friends. We will share details when the time comes. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society. And please, smile, forgive, be present, and give your heart fully to your friends, family, and strangers. Kathy will be watching and smiling. We will miss her tremendously
