Obituary
Kathleen Irene Troetti (née Vorvis) passed away peacefully on April 20, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. She fought hard and remained optimistic until the very end. Kathy was a loving wife and mother of two daughters.
Kathy was born on August 27, 1950 in Stamford, CT the third of six children to Andrew and MaryEllen Vorvis. She was known for an incredible work ethic, starting at a young age, when she ironed her father’s handkerchiefs for a penny each. From there, she went to Rippowam
High School, graduating in 1968. Her first child, MaryEllen was born in November, 1968 and Kathy was shocked that MaryEllen was wildly red haired. She primarily raised her child as a single mom, and worked full time to put herself through nursing school. Kathy enjoyed a career in nursing for over 40 years, specializing in geriatric care. She was awarded the Florence Nightingale Award for excellence in nursing in 2008, while employed at Laurel Ridge Healthcare Center.
Kathy gave birth to her second child, Tara, in December 1977. She supported her daughter tirelessly in her academic endeavors, including her undergraduate degree in business which she completed in 2001, and her MBA which was completed in 2015. In 1984, the family moved to NH, where they resided for the next ten years. During this time, MaryEllen developed her creative talents via photography, sewing, and pastry making, for which she was endlessly encouraged by her mother. Kathy was a voracious reader, and loved learning about many different subjects. She was also an Olympic level cleaner, oftentimes taking the clothes right off you to wash when you came through the door.
In 1998 Kathy met her eventual husband, Peter Troetti. Their years together were, by far, the happiest of her life. They spent their time travelling and exploring together, including a move to Florida, where she resided until her death. Kathy is survived by her husband, and two daughters, her siblings Paul Vorvis and Pati Esposito, and countless nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. A 40 day memorial will take place at Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford St, Stamford, CT 06905, on June 11 at 10am. The family requests donations to Cornerstone Hospice in lieu of flowers, as they gave her incredible care in her final days.
