Though it has been many years since we'd seen each other Kathi was like a second mom growing up with Katie. She was always the "cool mom" that everyone wanted to be around and I'll always remember all the good times. Throughout the years I know there has been many struggles but now rest in peace! Katie you are in my thoughts and I'm here if you need me.

Just one more person that passed through your life. You came into our lives through my brother....you did LOVE your Katy-Pooh and she loved you....I Hope that happiness envelopes you in HEAVEN, where we will all be free of pain and we will all be together again. Godspeed and May the Lord and angels care for you forever.

I remember Kathi well, back when Katie was a teenager and Joey was just a toddler. The woman I remember loved her kids fiercely and protected them like a momma bear. She was full of energy and spoke her mind and you always knew where you stood with her. I lost touch with the family over the years, but I know what a great person Katie has become and Kathi had a lot to do with that. Katie, Joey and Joey, I am truly sorry for the pain and loss you are all going through now and I hope and pray that you all find the strength and peace to get through this extremely difficult time.

As stated by others here, Kathi was by far one of the most giving and unselfish people I ever had the pleasure of knowing. Like many of Katie's friends, she was a second mom to me. She always had fun with us and lifted our spirits when we were down and she congratulated us when we accomplished something but at the same time she spoke the truth and always told us how it was even if it wasn't what we wanted to hear and for that we all loved her. I haven't seen or talked to her in a few years but that can't diminish the impact that she had on my life as well as many others. I just hope that everybody remembers her for the wonderful human being she was. She truly will be missed.

I was your sister in law many years ago. You shared your beautiful baby girl, Katie, with us and she was truly the JOY of our family. I am so sorry that life seperated us. I wish we could have stayed in touch. I wish we could have met Joey. I pray to God that your pain is gone and that you will forever be in HIS grace. You will be missed Kathy. You were a beautiful woman.
May you forever rest in peace.

I just want to add to the respect of those who are still here and love her very much that she leaves behind a son Joey Tillis, a grandson Chritopehr Simmons, many nieces and nephews who all loved her very much, 2 brothers Joe and Russell, 3 sisters Tracey, Dawn,& Dorothy. and many friends who were there while she struggled, and myself her daughter Katoe Thompson. I jsut wanted to correct one of the many untrue statements that were made through this obituary. she also did not graduate from the university of phoenix but was a very successful nurse. she was not engaged to Mr. Robert Hoogland either he was her lawyer and handled and helped her finances throught the years he was a friend to her and we all hope his intentions were true as she did love and trust him very much. I just thought it was important to make her obituary about her and list the truth so she can be remembered correctly. We all loved and will continue to love you very much. all the angels you worshipped and loved for so long have finally found you. You are now at peace finally....

I am her daughter that her lawyer not her fiance forgot to mention in her obituary. she was one of the most loving people in the world who unfortunatly had a very rough life that anyone would havea tough time recovering from. My brother (yes she had a son too and a beautiful grandson) Joey are glad you are now at peace. I hope you can now find the happiness you were always looking for. I will never forgive those that wouldnt share your last days with us and I know you would never forgive them for how they are treating us now. Whats most important now is that yu are finally at peace and i cant wait for the day i get to be with you once again while you are smiling with a clear mind and not in pain with a clouded sense of reality. as you are now looking down at us i hope you can now see all we tried to do for you and that it was all because we loved you sooo much. RIP mom. your forever loving daughter.

Kathi I were more than friends, but like sisters. I am her best friend, blood donor, and volunteer caregiver. I am not her biological sister as stated in the obituary. Kathi, you sacrificed your life for your two children, Joey and Katy. You were loving and caring and thoughtful friend. You encouraged me to go to nursing school, you got your wish. You wanted me to be at your beside when passed away; you got your wish. Kathy, I know you are safe in Jesus hands, free of harm and suffering; no more medication,no more hospital stay. no more doctors. "Flight high my angel, you are free"; I didn't loose you, you are in my heart and soul". You will be missed! LOVE FADIA.

I am so shocked. Kathi and I were close friends for years; had a parting of the ways a few years back when I was moving away from Sanford and she had some issues. She would give everything she had to help someone else. Kathi loved her children, her friends, and I will never forget how she took in me, my kid, my mom, my cats and dog, my mom's and my birds, during the hurricanes of '04. But that was Kathi, over and over, I can't say enough how good she was to her friends. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. Katie, Joey, Joey, I am so sorry.
