Obituary

Kathleen “Kathy” Joyce Morin, 54, passed away in Tampa, FL on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 after a month long fight with pneumonia.  She was with family as she fought with a strong will- but the damage to her lungs could not be repaired.  She will be remembered for her smile, her wonderful laugh, and the genuine warmth in her voice in her greeting.  She had an amazing talent for numbers and dates; a birthday was never forgotten.  She was a ferocious proponent for family, and no sacrifice was too great for her.

Kathy was born to Bill and Pat Edoff in Dearborn, MI on July 21, 1967.  She grew up in Livonia and Farmington with older brother Mike, and younger sister and brother Karen and Eric.  She graduated from Bishop Borgess High School in 1985 and received an associate’s degree from Henry Ford Community College.  She married her husband Vince, in 1993, and immediately started a family of their own with Joshua (Kayley), Jake, Sabrina and Mikey.  Her desire to become a nurse would never be, replaced with the desire to raise their children as a stay at home mother.  As the children grew, she lent her talents to Henry Ford Hospital West Bloomfield as a nurses’ aid, using her uncanny ability to connect with people to help patients and their families.

A perfect day for Kathy would be to be outside with family and friends, working on her garden, or enjoying a sunny day at a lake or park.  Surely, she is in that moment now, with some of her most favorite people who preceded her in death- her mother Pat, grandmother Norma “Gigi”, and beloved uncle Dennis.

A private family viewing will take place at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home in Spanish Springs downtown of The Villages, FL on Thursday, December 30th followed by cremation.  A celebration of life is planned in Michigan on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23815 Power Road, Farmington, MI 48336 starting with a greeting at 9:30am and mass at 10:00am.  There will be a reception including lunch afterwards at Monaghan Knights of Columbus in Livonia, 19801 Farmington Road, Livonia, MI 48152, the details of which are still being finalized.  Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs; 352-480-5959.  Sentiments may be left online at www.baldwincremation.com.

My sincerest condolences to Kathy’s family and friends. Kathy and I worked together many years ago at HF West Bloomfield. She always had a smile on her face and she was always quick to come up with something funny if you were having a bad day. It takes a special kind of person to devote their life and career to caring for others, and that is what she did. My heart and prayers go out to all of you, and may you cherish all the wonderful memories.

I'm so saddened to hear about the passing of Kathy. We had a special friendship throughout the years. I was around when Joshua/Jacob and Sabrina were born. She would text me on her way down to Florida and wish me a Happy Thanksgiving.
--It kind of became a game between her and I as to who was the first to text during our birthdays, Christmas and New Years! So the last text from her was wishing me a happy birthday. She then added "what do you mean older"? She was one year older than me.

So when Christmas came around, I texted her her a Merry Christmas and hope everyone is safe! I found it strange that I didn't hear back from her right away. On December 29th, 2021 Sabrina sent me a text that Kathy has passed. I was shocked and I couldn't sleep that night I will miss our friendship!

May she rest in peace and celebrate eternal life with her mother, Mrs. Pat Edoff! My heart goes out to Vince and the kids. And also to Mr. Bill Edoff, Mike, Karen and Eric. I hope that everyone can find peace and understanding. It is God's intentions for us to not live forever on this earth. God Bless and I'm sorry I can't be there to celebrate her life! I will be there in spirit!

Dear Morin family sending my deepest condolences to all
Were do I'd start at, let me start by saying, how sadden and broken hearted I was, hearing that Kathy has gained her wings. A life gone to soon.

I met Kathy, 7 years ago. It was her time to train me, I wrote her name on the patient's board, Id wrote Cathy, Kathy looked at me and said "it's Kathy with a K." Okay, Kathy with a K

Kathy had this amazing personality to lift my spirits and the spirits of her coworkers with her amazing smile deepest blue eyes and beautiful personality.

I was totally amazed that Kathy didn't have to write report sheet on any of her patient's on Big Bad Birch. I would get report from her by her memory, Id was completely amazed and jealous of how she could remember all the details of her patient's. I had to write 2 page sheet on my patient's.

Kathy will always be beautiful and young in the arms of our lord. I know one day, we will see each other again. I'll alway, remember a beautiful young woman, smart, amazing, caring and loving young lady that I'd had the chance to have her as a friend ♥️ thank you, Kathy for picking me to be your friend ❤️

    My Favorite Memory of Kathy
You may remember that Mary Kay and I once owned a cottage on Cedar Lake in Greenbush, MI where we would hold an Edoff family reunion and golf outing on the first Saturday of August almost every year. This memory is from August 4th, 2000.
The golf outing was over (Greg Abraham, Eric Edoff and Mike Edoff won the trophy). The tenderloin filet dinner was finished. The dishes were clean. The wave runner was out of the water. We were sitting on the grass by the water watching Eric send off fireworks into the sky. I was sitting in the front row between the seawall and the camp fire facing Eric. On my left was Kathy. On my right was our daughter-in-law, Sue, holding two-week old Sarina, and our son, Brian. A dozen or so other family members were around the fire pit behind us.
Kathy and I were talking when she asked my if I ever had any flashbacks of my time in Viet Nam in 1966/67. I had been a landing craft operator, carrying cargo from ship to shore while there and had never been shot at nor had I shot at anyone. So, I told Kathy that no, I had never had one flashback. Well, just as those words were coming out of my mouth, Eric lit one of the rockets and, for whatever reason, I thought the rocket was coming straight toward me. My reflexes kicked in and I pushed my chair to the right, knocking Sue over into Brian, breaking the chairs and creating a minute or two of confusion.
Some people thought I might have had a heart attack. Some thought Sarina was in the fire pit. Thank God everything was fine.
Then Kathy said words that I will never forget. She loudly said, “So, Uncle Dennis, you never have any flashbacks of Viet Nam?” Then everyone laughed and enjoyed the evening.

Every tribute to Kathy mentions her willingness to help others and her good heart. We were blessed to experience her kindness when she and Mike came to Bay City to support our family when our mother unexpectedly passed away. The entire Jonas family were so grateful when the two of them prepared a meal for us while we were at moms funeral. Kathy was a whirlwind in the kitchen and we could not believe that she didn’t do that for a living! Her smile and caring support to all of us will never be forgotten. She truly earned her wings here on earth. God bless you all.. and thank you for sharing your wonderful Kathy, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Much Love.. The Jonas Family
