Obituary

Kay Virginia Reutling Jones (79,) of Ormond Beach, Florida passed on from her physical body shortly after 6pm on Saturday October 31st, 2020. She was surrounded by loved ones up until her last breaths of air and went peacefully at Hospice of Port Orange.

Kay was born on July 2, 1941 in Gloversville, New York to James and Alberta Reutling. She attended college in Florida including time at The University of Miami. She was drawn to Florida from a young age and even at one point was known for drag racing Corvettes at multiple venues across the east coast including Sebring and Clearwater. In 1983, Kay and her family migrated from upstate, New York to the southern shores of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. This was a dream come true for Kay and she raised her two youngest children in Bethune Beach with many sunny day memories and laughs. Their home was one where family and friends were always welcome and there were multiple celebrations/parties/events at the Jones Family’s homes in New Smyrna Beach and Ormond Beach. She loved holidays and always did her best to make her family and friends feel special during them.

She was truly a kindhearted person who had an incredible presence that made people feel comfortable and cared for. She always put others first and was avidly involved in SuperStar Math, Cub/Boy Scouts and The Red Hat Society, Jimmy Buffet’s parrot heads, her son’s DJ business and the raising of her grandchildren. She was an avid antique collector for multiple decades and loved garage sailing. She is deeply loved by many and she touched the lives of many people with her pleasant nature and compassion for others. To know her was to love her.

Kay is predeceased by her daughter Kim Frasier who passed in 2017 due to complications with pancreatic cancer.
She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years: Nelson Jones, sons: Kyle Frasier and Jason Jones, and grandchildren: Skai and Silas Jones, Kali Whitford and Carson Frasier all of Volusia County.

To honor her, please be kind to yourself and others and gather for meals with your family.
