"If you are able, save for them a place inside of you and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go.
Be not ashamed to say you loved them, though you may or may not have always. Take what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own.
And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind."

Kenny, My Brother, My friend. We will miss you. You came back into my life after a long separation. I will always thank God for bringing you back into my life and for the opportunity to meet "your perfect soulmate" Traci. I'm thankful for the time and memories you and Traci gave us in Florida. Kenny, I celebrate the sixty odd years we have known each other, in the projects, our separation (because that is when you met Traci) and our time again afterwards. I love you "Big Bro". RIP and until we meet again.... Your "Little Sis".
Traci, our thoughts, love and prayers are with you.

I lived on the corner of West End and 63rd street and would sit on my stoop waiting for Kenny to walk by on his way home from the butcher shop where he worked. I had a huge crush on him. I will remember his always as a kind, warm individual who always had a smile on his face and a unique walk. We kept in touch over the years, most recently this past February. It had always been my hope that he would make it up to one of the reunions in the projects and we could catch up face-to-face. I had looked forward to meeting Traci, the woman who finally got him to settle down. He shared with me what a unique person she is and that he'd met the 'love of his life'. I'm so happy that he got to spend these last 11 years with her. I will miss him.

Kenny was more than a lifelong friend he was family. We met the day I was born and from that day he had a special part of my heart..I was the little sister he wanted protected but most of all loved. He always was there to put a smile on your face, I will miss that but know that he will be a part of my heart forever. RIP my "brother"

My friend, I have known him all my life. Birthday parties, graduations Kindergarten through High School we were together. Our families were like all the families from the Projects, close so very close. Our relatives and friends were each others. Watching him build his model custom cars in his room was like watching a car come out of production. He kept his Rod & Custom magazines as he did with all books. He was smart, on the CVHS honor roll, his picture was in the NY Daily News.
I remember before we went to the Worlds Fair with our class that we had a little Southern Comfort on the roof before going to school. Of all my friends growing up his was the only birthday I remembered and sent him a Happy Birthday greeting each year. This year will be different, but I will always remember that date. We kept in touch even while he was in Nam and I knew how hard it had been for him and it hurt because he was the friend who you were spiritually connected for life. He was happy in his final years because he found his soul mate. Thank God for that. As Traci mourns so do we all.
Rest in Heaven Greek with all our family and friends that you are sharing your life experiences with now.

I have never read anything more beautifully said- much too soon and while dealing with so much heartache. But this of course comes from a beautiful person and true soulmate written with so much heart and spirit for another beautiful and amazing human being. Rest in peace Ken and watch over my sister Traci. You will be missed more than words can ever say and your life on this earth is so very special and giving and you will never ever be forgotten...your spirit will always live on in our hearts.

Traci - You wrote a beautiful essay. Though I knew him only briefly, I know Ken was a fine man and so well regarded by his fellow soldiers. He's OK now, you may be sure. God bless you and all of Ken's family. Paul
