Obituary

Kenneth Pittman, born on February 12, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland, peacefully passed away on June 13, 2024, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was 82 years old.
Kenneth, lovingly known as Ken, was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Monica, and children: Jen, Rob, Kris, and Rick. He was predeceased by his son, Michael, whose memory he cherished deeply.
Ken dedicated his professional life to serving his country as a systems engineer, a career he pursued with diligence and integrity. After many years of committed service with the U.S. Government, he retired and, in 2002, moved to the sunny Florida, where he embraced a well-deserved retirement.
Ken was a man of many passions and talents. Known for his caring nature, generosity, and quick wit, he brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. His hands were rarely idle, as he took great pleasure in restoring classic 1955 Chevrolets, a hobby that showcased his meticulous attention to detail and love for vintage cars. He was also the quintessential “Mr. Fix-It,” always ready to tackle any household project with skill and enthusiasm.
In every aspect of his life, Ken exemplified dedication and love. His legacy lives on through his family and the countless memories they shared. His gentle spirit, warm heart, and unwavering support will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Marion County Animal Services in his memory.
Rest in peace, Ken. Your memory will forever be a blessing to those who had the privilege of knowing you.

I met Kenney about 10 years ago, we became great friends . We shared the passion of classic cars . Kenney was a super guy, I used to ask him if he could be my adopted father. My favorite times were when I would pull up at his garage with my 55 Chevy he built for me and seeing the smile on his face. I will always miss those times and my good friend. Kenney, when my time comes be waiting there with a cold one and a cool 55 Chevy. My heart goes out to Kenney's family, he will always be in my heart .

My Uncle Ken was always friendly, happy and fun to be around. He had a great sense of humor, personality and we connected with our love for music. His skills with cars and the stories that came with it are something I will never forget; I even remember him tinkering with my mini-bike back when I was a kid. You will be missed and thanks for the great memories.

My Dad left so many sweet memories in my heart that will never ever be forgotten.I looked up to him as he would never fail to have something encouraging to say. In my 20’s when I had a little struggle , he told me to ALWAYS LOOK OUT FOR NUMBER ONE…. AND YOU’RE NUMBER ONE. I’ve actually given this advice to friends several times. He always loved having all of his grown children together and he would just beam and laugh at all of our sarcastic humor we all shared and inherited from the pro….our Dad. I’m very grateful for all of the time we had together. Until we meet again Dad…. I love you so very much.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Ken's passing. I had the privilege of meeting him when I worked at the LAB, the auto restoration shop in Leesburg. It was during those times at the LAB that I got to work alongside Ken, and I have fond memories of the moments we shared.

Ken's presence at the shop parties, along with Monica, brought joy and laughter to everyone around. He truly was a kind soul, and I will always remember the laughter we shared. One of my favorite memories is when Ken came to the party dressed as a Doctor – a costume that perfectly showcased his playful spirit.

Ken's love for vintage Chevrolet cars was evident in every conversation we had. He had a knack for storytelling, and lunchtime was always a delight with his amusing and heartfelt stories that never failed to bring smiles and laughter.

Please accept my deepest condolences. Ken's warmth, kindness, and the joy he brought to those around him will be dearly missed. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

    With heartfelt sympathy, Jeff Allen

I only had the pleasure of knowing ken for about 2 years, i first met him when mowing a yard by him and noticed he had a 55 chevy in the garage and went over and talked to him as i have a 55 and not long after that started mowing his yard also. Me and my help always looked forward to getting to those yards each week and would make those the last yards of the day so we could hang out with him for a bit, even brought my car by a few times. He was a great guy and always had you laughing , going to miss our weekly hang out time. RIP ken , Condolences to Monica and family .

You don't get to have to many real freinds in this life. Kenny was a real freind. His knowledge of cars, music and just about anything else always amazed me. When ever I hear the song "Darling" I will think of him. He loved that song. He could always make you laugh, right down to the last time I saw him. My condolences go out to Monica, Ricky and his family. We all will miss him. RIP KOP .... Dan Boy

He was a good friend and neighbor. We will miss your kindness and great sense of humor, the garage gatherings and at the neighborhood parties, and just checking the progress of your latest 55 Chevy project. Rest in peace Ken.

Ken was always around as a kid and I’m grateful to be around him quite a few times in the last 4-5 years. He was a great man and always wanted to teach you something about cars, music, life or quantum physics. I’m very happy my kids got to meet him and get to know him even a little bit. He will be missed, my deepest condolences to Rick, Monica and the family.

Ken was my nephew. but came to live with us when he was a few years younger than I. Because life kept us apart in later years, we never lost the connection we had in those early years. We continued to reminisce close to the end of his life as we remembered some of those experiences. I will miss you Ken.

As my dad, my mentor, and my friend, I'll never forget the time I was lucky enough to have spent together with you. You will always be in my heart and will truly be missed. I love you Dad.

There will never be another man like our Dad. He enjoyed music, warm weather, a good laugh, and time shared with special friends. He will be sorely missed. So, in his honor, go forth and tinker in your garage. Make a plan. Solve a problem. Sing a song. Nibble on some saucy wings. Crack open a spicy steamed crab. And at the end of the day, raise your glass to a life well lived.
