Kenneth Walter Wessel, passed away at home January 17, 2018. He was 70 years old.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Gail Doyle Wessel of the Villages, FL, formerly of Elkridge, MD; son Daniel Wessel and daughter-in-law Kathryn Lyons of Chicago, IL; daughter Megan Wessel Ballecer of Lady Lake, FL; and brother John Wessel and sister-in-law Janet Wessel of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Julia, Jacob, Emma, and Ian and many nieces and nephews that he cared for very much. Ken was loved by all, especially the Doyle family who considered him a brother.
Ken led a long and distinguished career as a psychologist. He worked for thirty years at Johns Hopkins Hospital and had his own private practice in Ellicott City, Maryland. At the end of his career, he became the Chief Psychologist for the State of Maryland DDS.
Ken worked hard his entire life to build a great foundation for his family. In 2015, he moved with his wife Gail to the Villages, Florida. There he met a dynamic group of friends (the Fight Club) who filled his final years with joy and purpose.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood, Florida at 11 AM on 2/2/18. A luncheon and reception will follow. Please join us for a celebration and remembrance.
