Obituary

Kevin R. LaPan, 63, of Port Orange, Florida, died unexpectedly on Monday, December 28, 2020, at home. Kevin was born in Greenfield, MA on September 28, 1957, the son of Kenneth R. and Roberta J. LaPan. Both of whom predeceased him along with his niece – Meghan LaPan.

He is survived by his son Danny LaPan (and his significant other, Caity Darcy) and daughter Abbey LaPan (and her significant other, Joseph Hutchinson). He had two adoring grandchildren (Avah and Ellah Hutchinson), several aunts, uncles, cousins, and four nephews (Jamison, Griffin, Drake, and Brayden). He is also survived by his two brothers – Keith LaPan of Orange, MA, and Karl LaPan (and wife Kelly) of Fort Wayne, IN.

Kevin retired one year ago to move south for warmer weather and to enjoy his free time. He was a strong supporter of President Donald J. Trump and the second amendment, which regularly got him in trouble on social media. He was an avid Patriots fan, loved motorcycles, and enjoyed rock concerts and the beach with his son. This past summer, he resided in New Hampshire with his family and friends enjoying retirement and his newly purchased second home.

He graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1976. He entered the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1981. He retired from Erving Paper Mill on January 4, 2020, after 36 years of dedicated service and accomplishments.

Services and interment will be private, with a family graveside service expected in the summer in Massachusetts. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are pending and are being handled by the Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society in Port Orange, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made in his memory to the advancement of scientific research in congestive heart disease by the American Heart Association.
