Obituary

Kimberly Jean Bean sadly passed away peacefully at the Hope Hospice Care Center in Fort Myers, Florida on April 10, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Kim was born on September 20, 1963 in Derby, Connecticut.

Kim moved as a child with her family to the Portland, Maine area where she spent the majority of her life, working and raising her two children, Nicole and Derrick (Bud). She attended Portland High School in Portland and later attended community college.  Kim then went to work for Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Maine in Portland. After leaving Anthem, Kim went to work for Healthaxis Group LLC, an insurance software firm, where she worked for the past twenty years as a Senior Business Analyst. Kim eventually relocated to Newry, ME, where she has lived for the past ten years. Kim married her husband, Ronald Ives, from Gahanna, Ohio, on January 27, 2018. Kim and Ron then resided in Newry, Maine.

Kim had many wonderful friends around town where she enjoyed meeting them at Roosters Roadhouse in Bethel for a beverage or two. Kim enjoyed the outdoors and working in the yard where she loved planting flowers. Kim especially enjoyed spending a few of those cold Maine winter months at her fathers home in Fort Myers, Florida, enjoying the sunshine and warm weather. Kim will be missed.

Kim is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Ives, father Charles (Charlie) Bean, Newry ME, daughter Nicole Bean, Waterford ME, son Derrick Bean (Tansie) Canaan ME, sister Tammy Rooney (Tom) Madison CT  brother Chuck Bean (Denise), Gray ME and brother Scott Bean (Tammy), Gray ME. Kim has six grandchildren, Jacob and Rosie Edwards, Standish ME, Lylah and Gracie Bean, Waterford ME and Ben and Brianna Bean, Canaan ME. Kim also had numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Kim was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Shatney.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
