Obituary
Born in Elkhart, Indiana, residing in Florida since 1974. His battle with health issues in recent years showed his courage and strength in facing life’s challenges. Despite the pain, Larry pushed through many medical procedures, staying strong until the end.
Larry enjoyed life in his youth, excelling in golf, bowling, and softball, just to name a few. Larry always had an exceptional work ethic, working hard to provide for his family.
Larry is the son of his late father, Elton (Elsie) Filbert and mother, Dora (Jones) (Arthur) Bowman. He was preceded in death by his brother, David (Linda) Hostetler.
Larry was a loving husband to Sandra Filbert, to whom he was happily married to for 53 years. He was the father of Connie Brown of Arizona, Bobbie-Jo Mayville of Indiana, Tracy (Dean) Fellers of Florida, James Nolan of Florida and Denise (Richard) Steele of Florida.
He is also survived by his brother, Thom Filbert (Nena) of Florida, his sisters: Janet (Charlie) Dimos of Indiana and Janet Bittle of Indiana, grandchildren: Jeremi (Richard) Brown of California, Eric (Erica) Brown of Arizona, Dean Fellers II of Florida, Jake Fellers of Florida, Amber Fellers of Florida, Chase Shannon of Florida, Kaden Shannon of Florida, Mandi-Jo Palos of Indiana, Jaime-Jo (Martin) Rodriguez of Indiana and Beverly McManus of Indiana; great-grandchildren: Neveah Fellers of Florida, Lucas Brown and Landon Brown of Arizona, Brianna Palos and Isaac Palos of Indiana; special niece and nephews and cousins; sister-in-law: Lorna (Lee) Terrell of Florida, and nephew: Christopher Clark of Florida.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at 2:30pm, located at Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Pkwy E., Cape Coral, FL. 33909, followed by a reception and potluck at the River Trails Club House, 16900 Slater Rd. N. Ft. Myers.
Larry will be truly missed by all his friends and loved ones, however, his journey in this life has ceased, as the Lord called him home. Larry would want each of us not to mourn, but to live and love life to the fullest. Life is a journey, so enjoy the ride.
