Obituary
Larry Gene Wilburn, 65, of North Fort Myers, passed away May 14, 2020, at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, FL. Born March 12, 1955 in Indianapolis, IN., he was the son of Charles Leonard Wilburn and Elsie Helen Miller. Larry loved living on his sailboat and always dreamed of sailing to the Philippines with his son Matthew. Larry’s greatest accomplishment was when he became a father on October 30, 1990 to Matthew Brandon Wilburn. Matthew was Larry’s best friend, strength, and motivation in life. Larry loved and devoted his life to the Lord. He enjoyed church, painting, surfing, fishing, tinkering, music, and cars. Throughout Larry’s battle with his illness he showed unfathomable courage, strength, and positivity that never faltered. Surviving are his son Matthew Brandon Wilburn of North Fort Myers, FL., daughter in law Krista Kay Shiero of North Fort Myers, FL., sisters Holly Wilburn Ball of Homosassa, FL., Kathy Wilburn Willis of Minneola, FL., Sharon A. Rodriquez of Minneola, FL., and Jeanetta Wilburn McDuffie of Archdale, NC. and brother Chuck Wilburn of Homosassa, FL.
The ripples made as Larry passed through our lives will continue to grow and touch others through us, because in ways large and small, he affected the way we live our lives, the way we feel, and the way we think. Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society, Fort Myers, assisted with arrangements.
