Obituary

Larry James “Jim” Harvey passed away on Tuesday, May 17th, 2022, at the age of 74, following a rapid decline in his overall health. He went to be with The Lord peacefully, in the comfort of his own home, with his loved ones surrounding him.

Jim was born on Feb 16th, 1948 in Oroville, CA, but grew up in Jackson, MI where he met his wife, Cheryl. The young couple married and were blessed with two children while in Michigan, then moved to Leesburg, FL in 1976 where they planted their roots and ran a successful business (Harvey Mobile Homes and RV).

His love for people made him a host for many gatherings and camaraderie for all he knew. He was a giver in so many ways and would help anyone in need. Jim’s hobbies included showing cars and motorcycles, where he made many friends and won several awards. His biggest joy always came from seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren happy. A business man always and the patriarch of not just his immediate family, but a large extended family.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cheryl, who loved and cared for him through all of life’s journey. Their two children: Chrissy (Mike) Duttenhaver and Mikey (Stephanie) Harvey. Siblings: Ronnie Harvey, Barb (Bob) Smith, and Kay Harvey. Grandchildren: Kayla (Zane) Bowman, Michael (Rhiannon) Harvey, Ashley (Dennis) Uricola, Nathan (Hunter) Harvey, and Jaennae (Thomas) Riley. Great-grandchildren: Beau, Caroline, Emmett, Dennis, Layla, Hannah, Everett, Macy, Kierstyn and Beckham. Step-grandchildren and great grandchild: Ashley (Sam), Austin and Lakai. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and life long friends, whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Frankie Harvey. Siblings: Sylvia Mae Harvey, John Leroy Harvey and Jane Walz, and Godson Mike Harvey who we know all met him with open arms.

Jim’s Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, May 29th at Recreation Plantation RV Resort (320 Clay Ave N, Lady Lake, FL. Clubhouse #3).  Please dress as you wish and come hungry. Bring a memory to share if you’d like. There will not be a formal service, but a joyous gathering with all who loved him!
