Obituary

Larry Paul Shouse, age 65, of Clermont, Florida, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones.

Larry, the son of Pete Richard Shouse and Yoko (Suzuki) was born on September 11, 1958, in Misawa, Japan. At the age of 13, he, his mother and step-father Hubert F. Watkins moved to San Diego, California. After graduating high school, Larry served in the United States Air Force for 7 years as a Wideband Communications Technician. From there, he would go on to manage several telecommunications companies, even owning his own company, Bay Technologies, partnered with Vernon Nyhuis, leading up to his final position as the Director of Company Operations at Telecom Test and Repair in Lakeland, Florida.

In his free time, Larry enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as spending time with his family, cooking, grilling, reading, riding his Harley, Formula 1 Racing, hockey games and spending time with his beloved beagles – Cali, Gemma and Cooper.

He was a member of the Mason’s 226 in Clermont, FL

Larry created an online Daily Inspiration group that reaches out all over the world with over one hundred thousand people to share the word of God.

Larry’s loving spirit is carried on by his high school sweetheart and wife of 44 years, Margaret; their son, Richard; his sister, Lisa; his brother Rick; his best friends Tammy and Tony; as well as many others.

Larry was preceded in death by his father Pete, his mother Yoko, his step-father Hubert and his mother-in-law Patricia.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife Margaret Elizabeth Shouse, loving son Richard Alan Shouse, cherished granddaughter Mya Xiomari Manso, daughter in law Melanie Alysse (Sibert), sister Lisa A. Vega, brother Richard Lee Shouse, nieces Avalon S. Vega and Valentina A. Vega and brother in law Saul Vega Jr.

This was when we went to see Joe Satriani. I will always remember your selfless and kind ways. Your sister is correct when she said to count yourself fortunate if we were someone in your life. My heart breaks with your family, they will be in my prayers. Until we see you again viejo. Rest easy.

It’s just me now and to say I am heartbroken and lost would be an understatement. I had taken care of our parents for so long that saying goodbye to them was sad but due. I knew a time would come when my brother would be called away from this life and I thought it would be hard but I never thought it would be this painful.

So let me tell you about my big brother. He was intimidating when I was little. My mom would make him take me with him whenever he needed the car and I loved going but I was never welcomed. I wonder why…I still remember watching The Shinning at the drive-in, standing in the back seat while my brother and his friend sat in the front. The movie still scares me.
When I needed to be disciplined, my mother would threaten to tell my brother (not my pops) and that would be enough to make me stop.
My brother is the smartest person I know. He would work on cars with my pops or fix a leaking pipe without thinking twice about it, he could just figure it out. He could pull something apart and put it back together better than it had been working before.

I’m not sure if many of you know this, but my brother had a love for the ocean and I often thought he would become an oceanographer. At one time he was rarely without a camera and there were pages from scuba diving magazines all over his closet doors. My favorite thing to do as a kid was to sneak into his room, turn on his orange lamp, close his dark purple curtains and lay on his waterbed while Pink Floyd played. Every time I got away with that was a golden experience. Not so much when I got caught.

My brother was my go-to for advice, support and a good laugh about our lives growing up. Especially all of our mother’s shenanigans. She raised hustlers with aspirations to do good .

My past and my youth are gone and I know I have so much to look forward to with my daughters and their adventures and of course, growing old with my husband but I can’t help feeling like a large part of my life is gone.

My brother’s life was a miracle and he lived his life with grace and kindness and he was ALWAYS thoughtful of others. Thank you Tammy for giving him a little more time with your kidney.

But I got to say goodbye. I got to tell him what he meant to me how he influenced my life and that my wish was for my girls to find a mate as honorable as he is.

I have the privilege of saying he was my big brother. He gave me the soundtrack to my life and I am forever grateful for that music. Listening to the Eagles, Elton John, Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin gives me comfort and makes me feel safe.

It’s funny how I never appreciated that while I was trying to listen to Beach Boys and his stereo was louder than mine .

Count yourself fortunate that you were someone in my brother’s life. I’m pretty sure every time you spoke to him, not only did he listen but you felt heard.

Thank you Maggie for caring for my brother through the good and bad. Thank you for walking through this life of his. Just remember, my brother walked with you as far as he could. God got you to where you are, and now it’s up to you to carry on. Not only for the puppies, yourself and Rick but also for him.

I love you, big brother! I am sad you are not here but I know you’ve got me and will whisper good things in God’s ear for all of us. I’ll do the best I can to make good decisions and to make you proud.

    Love always,
    Leese

I miss you so much! You were supposed to let me go first
Not sure how I’ll do life without you I’ll try to do the things you would want me to do.
I’m relieved that you’re no longer in pain. You went through so much. When you said you wanted to go to God, how could I deny you that?
I’ll love you and miss you forever and ever.
Your beagles miss you and look for you.
You were the best husband a woman could have had. I’m just so sorry we didn’t make it to The Mayo. No more sickness and pain for you.
I will always remember the kisses you gave me the day you left.
Trying to be strong and thankful you’re at peace now ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love and miss you more than ever

Larry was the best nephew and cousin anyone could ask for. He was a loving man with a heart of gold.
Of course Maggie and Rick were his greatest treasures. (And of course his furry children.) He always put family 1st and this included his friends that turned into family especially Tony and Tammy. He loved with all of his heart and lived every day to the fullest. He was a man of faith and he was stronger because of it. He was a selfless man even though he was fighting his own medical battles. He had a great sense of humor and loved to bring a smile to others faces. He was incredibly smart and always gave the best advice. We are thankful that he's no longer in pain but miss him beyond words. We know he's smiling down on us from heaven. RIP Larry We love you!
