Obituary

Laurie Jane Dukes Buchman met her creator on Friday, September 6, 2024, finally, winning her battle with cancer.  She was a beautiful woman of God who dedicated her entire life to not only her own children but, had a role in many other lives, helping both raise an amazing village and build her life’s legacy. Her nurturing, creative, and loving heart will be missed by so many.  Laurie is survived by her loving and loyal husband of 31 years, Bill Buchman; her children, Laurisa, Jason, Josh, Crystal, and Amanda and their spouses; her brother, Jan Dukes; 12 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.  Please check back for service times for Laurie’s celebration of life.

    Laurie was one of my best friends back 60 years. Her parents, Troy & Grace Dukes were best friends with my parents. So many of my childhood memories are of fun times spent with Laurie and being in church together. We didn’t have as much contact in the years since I moved out of state, but our sisterhood relationship was always there, that lifelong connection. Laurie’s passing has left a huge hole in my life. I miss her terribly and send my prayers for the peace and comfort that only Jesus can give to her dear husband and precious family.

    Laurie was a wonderful women who lived here life by Jesus’ example better than anyone I have ever known. She never spoke ill of anyone, she was always there for me, and never judged me. A great example of Gods love. She also instilled that love in her granddaughter (my daughter) Adelia. I am so thankful for her and I know she is with God in heaven now watching over us. I love you Laurie and I will miss you dearly.
