Obituary
Larry was born in Minneapolis, MN to Oliver and Marian Sigurdson on July 10, 1943 and graduated from Washburn High School in 1961. Larry joined the US Navy in 1962 and served on the destroyer USS Bausell during the Vietnam war.
After an honorable discharge from the navy in 1966, Larry returned to Minnesota to continue his education receiving a bachelor’s degree at Winona State University. He was excited to share his love of music as a morning DJ first in Winona and then at KRSI in Minneapolis in the 1970s.
Larry then put his talents to work in marketing and advertising for General Mills, then in the 80s and 90s worked as a marketing director for Business Incentives in Edina, MN.
In 2004, Larry decided he’d had enough of the Minnesota winters and retired with his wife, Robyn to Charlotte County, FL where he was known to enjoy a cold beer in the warm sun. He received his real estate license in Florida and worked with Robyn for 7 years before retiring a second time. Everyone who knew Larry knew him to be a fantastic guy and appreciated his genuine warmth, kind spirit and brilliant wit. In addition to being an avid reader and crossword puzzle guy, Larry built beautiful model ships and loved to travel.
Larry is survived by his wife of 29 years, Robyn Sigurdson of Punta Gorda, daughter Kristen L Sigurdson of Otsego, MN, stepson Ryan Christenson of Crystal, MN, stepdaughter Brandee Parsons of Port Charlotte, FL, and grandsons William Parsons III and Andrew Parsons. He was our anchor, he was much loved and he will be so missed.
A military service will be held at a future date at Sarasota National Cemetery.
We wish to thank Tidewell Hospice for their wonderful care and assistance which allowed Larry to spend his final days at home surrounded by family.
