Obituary

Lee Oakes of Leesburg, Florida departed peacefully in the arms of his wife Jingyan and daughter Emma on (DATE). Lee was born to Lillian D. and John F. Oakes in Saxtons River, Vermont. Lee started grade school in Saxtons River and graduated from Bellows Falls High School in the class in 1963. Lee and Jingyan began their relationship in Minneola Florida. Lee’s biological son Kirby was born on August 16, 1965.

Lee’s interests were many. He was employed by the Jones & Lamson Machine Company for 35 years. He traveled the country working with many companies, assisting with developments of the front wheel drive automobile components, aircraft, oil field and munitions. He loved his work and met many engineers during his employment. He also had extended foreign travel. Upon his initial retirement he moved to Florida and worked many years for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement until he finally retired in 2018. Lee always enjoyed his family life. Lee’s brother Walther and son Kirby spend many hours together with their families socializing and fishing the lakes of Vermont and Florida. Everyone who knew his family always enjoyed the good times Lee had with them.

Lee had many happy memories with Emma, watching her mature from a shy lady, playing the Violin, teaching her to drive, becoming and scholar at FSU and getting her master’s degree at University of Michigan. The two had many happy moments together. His son Kirby Lee brought happiness to Lee in many ways. Their conversations were many with highlights of the fishing trips in the Gulf and his sweet wife Jackie.

Lee is survived by his wife, Jingyan of Leesburg, Florida, Son Kirby of Mendon Michigan, Daughter Emma of Ann Arbor Michigan. Lee had many cousins, nephews, and friends whom he loved dearly. Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian D. and John F. Oakes and brother John W Oakes. Lee now will be guided by the Angles forever sending his love to all. May he rest in peace.

Per his wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A burial service will be announced later. He will be buried in the Saxtons River Vermont cemetery.
