Obituary

Saturday April 19, 2014, from 2-5 pm. Historical Civic Center 135 West Church Ave, Longwood, Fl. 32750   Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Lester "Sonny" Clay. Born October 13, 1926   Entered Heaven April 16, 2014 Les lived a full and exciting life. As a teen he travelled the rails from Illinois to the west coast, with his brother Jim, seeking adventure; later, served in the navy for four years, becoming a part of Operation Crossroads at Bikini Atoll; happily married Helen Clay for 60 years after that until she went home in 2009; fathered five children, became grandfather to eight, and wonderful great-grandfather to many. Les was a blessing to those around him, sharing with the world his humor, his wit, and his countless fish tails. He rededicated his life to Jesus Christ towards the end of his life. He always had a way to make you smile, and he stayed mischievous until the end. He was a light in the lives and memories of everyone that knew him. And, although the world won’t be the same without him, it will never be the same because of him. Now, Les is happily reunited with Helen and other family in the presence of the Lord, and we can all look forward to seeing them again by faith. We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8

Dear Cousins: Please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of your dear father and grandfather. Although I never had the opportunity to get to know Uncle Sonny and Aunt Helen very well, I know how dear they were to my Mom (Ila). The few times I did get to spend time with them were very special to me. May you find great peace and comfort knowing that your Dad and Mom have been reunited in Heaven with our Lord. God bless each of you. You will continue to be in my prayers....
