Obituary

Leslie “Les” Emmanuel Frank, 84 passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 18,2021 in Daytona
Beach, Florida. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on April 14, 1937 to Herman and Illa Frank.
Graduated a proud MSU Spartan in 1960. He was a Veteran, teacher and athletic director at
Lansing School for the Blind. In 1978, his family relocated to Ormond Beach, Florida to continue his
career in Sales. In 2002 he retired from Lloyd’s Buick-Cadillac after 22 years of service. He was
charismatic, optimistic and never met a stranger. He loved God, his family, life, nature, he was a true
sportsman, who loved fishing and hunting. His favorite pastimes were spending time together tailgating at
the speedway, surf fishing , or attending a bandshell concert. His retirement was spent, in his words,
with his “sole mate”, and love for over 25 years Phyllis Shinder. They shared a love of cruising
and traveling the world and the country, visiting family and meeting new friends. Both avid
sports fans of NASCAR Races, Magic basketball, golf and of his alma mater, MSU Spartans. He was
passionate about photography, capturing our family’s history. He is preceded in death by his sister
Marilyn Lindberry, Grand Rapids, MI. He is survived by his girlfriend Phyllis Shinder, of Port
Orange, FL, his Brother Stanley Frank, of Lansing, MI and 4 children. Sherry Kilian(Casey) of
Port Orange, FL, Barbara Frank(Dave) of Deleon Springs, FL, Rochelle(Keith)Griffin of
Archer, FL, Brian Stolman of Port Orange, FL, and 3 grandsons and many that called him Papa
Les. He was happy to be a resident at Countryside Lakes Assisted Living and was grateful for his
relationships with friends and staff. Memorial Service, Tuesday May 11th at 4:00pm at
Riverbend Community Church, 2080 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach, FL. Refreshment to
follow service from 5-6pm. Service will be live streamed, more details TBA. In lieu of flowers
he’d wish to honor his beloved Phyllis by making donations to Alzheimer’s Association,
