Obituary

Linda Ann Gill Hayes passed away September 4, 2020 at her home in Daytona Beach at the age of 79.  She was born in Deland, Florida and attended Deland public schools, graduating with honors with the “Mighty Fine of 59” and attended FSU.  She was predeceased by her parents, A. Gordon Gill and Doris St. Johns Gill, her husband, David P. Hayes, her daughter, Claire Marie Hayes-Johnson, her son, David C. Hayes, and her ex-husband, Walter Johnson.  She is survived by her brother Richard S. Gill and his wife Sandy Snyder Gill of Orlando; nephew R. Sheldon Gill and wife Sabrina Williams Gill of Deland; her cousin, Tad Williams of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea; cousin, Carol Williams Steck of St. Petersburg, Fl; cousin, Betty Ann Gill Wilson of Deland; cousin, Jerry Gill of Deland; cousin, Kenny Gill of Deland; cousin, Marvin Lopez, Metter, GA and cousin, Herman Lopez, Thonotosassa, FL.

Linda was an active Realtor in New Smyrna Beach for many years.  She began her real estate career in Miami where she was a member of the Keyes Realty Million Dollar Club and was the founder and president of the Women’s Council of Realtors in New Smyrna Beach.  She was a past member of the New Smyrna Beach Board of Realtors, Pilot Club, New Smyrna Beach Garden Club, New Smyrna Yacht Club and Ponce Inlet Power Squadron.

Linda was the former owner of Settler-Wilder Funeral Home and Coquina Wharf Bed and Breakfast on Riverside Drive in New Smyrna Beach.  She made friends locally and from all over the world and enjoyed entertaining all of them.  Linda requested no funeral services be held.  Donations may be made in her honor to the Halifax Humane Society or the Southeast Volusia Humane Society.

    I am grateful that God put her in my life!
    What I admire most is her love, strength and determination.
    She left us with her graceful fall and now she is dancing with our children.
