Obituary
Linda Gayle Holbrook-Simpson (Bubble), age 66, was born in Whitesburg, Kentucky on July 19, 1958, raised in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, recently lived in Ormond Beach and Port Orange, Florida, returned to Heaven on Friday November 1st, 2024. Linda was the 1st born child of the late Jerry Lee Holbrook and Janis Ann Quillen-Holbrook.
In 1975 Linda married Dwight David Simpson (passed in November, 2019) and they were blessed with the birth of a wonderful and talented daughter, April Dawn Simpson-Munson in May of 1976. Linda was a homemaker, dedicated wife, and loving Mom. Outside the home, Linda worked for the Walker Company in Mt. Sterling for ten years doing administrative work. After her divorce from David, she moved back home to care for her Mom, Janis, until she passed in 2011. They took care of and supported one another for many years.
Linda was such a sweet and kind person. She touched many hearts and many hearts touched hers. Linda loved talking and/or visiting with her best friend Claudette Toy, her nieces, great nieces, nephew, great nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, sister, brothers, neighbors, friends, extended family, or any friendly soul she met.
In the last two years of her life, Linda (Sissy) suffered from late-stage COPD/Emphysema and entered Hospice Care in January of 2023. In those last two years, she truly enjoyed the time she got to spend with her daughter and her family in Georgia and Florida. She loved knitting, baking, and lounging in the pool at home in Ormond Beach, talking and visiting with friends and family but mainly living in the fine weather of Ormond Beach and sharing family time with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. It was a blessed time. Through Halifax Health Hospice in Florida, Linda met Chaplin Ric May. Ric became a quick friend and wonderful supporter. Ric, his wife, doctors, staff, volunteers, and everyone Linda met associated with Halifax Health Hospice in Ormond Beach and Port Orange Florida are truly loving and caring individuals. They’ll never be forgotten by Linda’s family for their care, support, and friendship.
In addition to Linda’s Mom and Dad, she was proceeded in death by: A brother, Michael Kevin Holbrook; a sister, Jill Elaine Holbrook-Grooms; a nephew, Spencer Bryce Holbrook; nephew-in-law, John Richard Black; Grandparents; Aunts; Uncles; and Cousins.
