In Loving Memory of Linda Keeneth Townsend
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Keeneth Townsend, born June 14, 1948, who left us on January 5, 2025. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, Linda’s warm heart, generosity, and passion for learning and teaching left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Linda dedicated 36 years of her life to education as an elementary school teacher in Sarasota, FL, primarily at Brentwood Elementary and Tatum Ridge Elementary. She inspired and shaped the lives of countless students, fostering a love for learning that stayed with them long after they left her classroom. Linda also served as a troop leader for the Girl Scouts, taking groups camping and on trips around the state, helping them grow and experience the world.
Her love of the outdoors led her to enjoy camping and traveling, often visiting family and exploring new places. She was a lifelong reader and believed in the power of books to inspire and educate.
Linda’s love for her family was immeasurable. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Jack Townsend, for 54 wonderful years. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and adventures. Linda was a devoted mother to Heather (Townsend) Charles and David Townsend, and her heart overflowed with joy as a grandmother to Ethan Charles, Caleb Charles, and Chloe Charles, who lovingly called her “Nahnee.” She also cherished her relationship with her son-in-law, Mike Charles, and daughter-in-law, Jenny Alday Townsend.
Linda’s kindness, patience, and unwavering support made her an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Laurel Oak Country Club, 2700 Gary Player Blvd, Sarasota, FL from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to join us in honoring her life and legacy.

Sending deepest sympathy’s and my thoughts and prayers to bring you comfort during this difficult time.
I know Linda from water aerobics. She was an amazing mermaid friend to all of us. ♀️. Linda was always a ray of sunshine. She bragged all the time
about her children and
grandchildren. She always made me smile. To Jack, her high school sweetheart, you will reunite on the other side…guaranteed.
May God welcome you.
Love you
