Lois Emma Dawson, 87, died at the Port Orange Hospice Care Center on December 24, 2011. Lois was born on February 21, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan to William and Edna Koth. The family moved to East Detroit, currently Eastpointe, during her teenage years. Lois graduated from East Detroit High School. She married Kenneth Walter Dawson in 1947 after he returned from serving in the Navy during WWII. She worked in several secretarial positions and enjoyed square dancing, bowling, cards, bingo, and entertaining at large family get-togethers. Lois and her husband retired to Haines City, Florida in 1986. She was predeceased by her husband who died April 2, 2003. Survivors include her 4 children, Sue (Keith) Shumaker of Lewiston, Michigan, Dennis (Denise) Dawson of St. Clair, Michigan, Kent (Nancy) Dawson of Ormond Beach, Florida, and Brian (Cheryl) Dawson of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, 4 sisters , Edna, Dolores, Gladys, and Glenda, one brother William, 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will have a memorial service in Michigan at a later date.
