Obituary

Lois Fletcher passed away October 17th, 2022 in Cape Coral, Florida.  She was born in Danville, West Virginia and lived to be 100 years old.  Lois grew up in a rural town where her father worked as a physician.  Her mother was a housewife.  Lois attended Winthrope University located in Rockhill, South Carolina where, in 1943, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree.  She married Charles B. Fletcher in 1947 and moved to Miami, Florida shortly thereafter.  Lois was a career Public School Teacher with 35 years of service before retiring in 1986.  In 1992, Lois and her husband moved from Miami, Florida to the Florida Baptist Retirement Center in Vero Beach, Florida.  She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Vero Beach and also sang in the church’s choir.  Lois was very active and her interests included taking senior aerobics classes and performing with the Treasure Coast Choral.  Her declining health prompted her to move to Fort Myers, Florida and most recently resided in nearby Cape Coral.  Lois will be buried alongside her husband at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.   She is survived by her son: Charles B. Fletcher, Jr., Daughter-in-Laws Jimi L. Fletcher and Cathy S. Fletcher, Grandchildren Eric and Haley Fletcher, Nieces Harriot Johnson, Elizabeth Bennett and Nephew: Clifford Bennett
