Obituary

Baldwin Brothers Cremation Society would like to extend their sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Loretta Clare Oehler who passed away on November 4, 2022.

Loretta C. Oehler was born March 30, 1930 to Richard B. Doran and Delia M. Cotton and had two brothers and three sisters, all of whom she admired and loved. Raised in Chicago, IL, she was a graduate of St. Kilian grammar school, Aquinas High School and DePaul University all in Chicago, and Rock Valley College in Rockford, IL.  Loretta achieved academic excellence at all levels of her education and was named to the National Honor Society at Aquinas High School. With her husband of 69 years, Charles R. Oehler, she raised eight wonderful children, including four sons and four daughters. Her lifelong example of deep and loving devotion to her family and Catholic faith was an inspiration to her children, her eight grandchildren and her two great grandchildren. Loretta was loved and respected by everyone who met and worked with her, including her countless friends, the students and faculty at St. Rita School and her colleagues at Sundstrand Aviation in Rockford, IL.  She generously donated her money and time to numerous charities throughout her life, including her years-long volunteer service with Northern Illinois Hospice, her service as a mass organist at St. Rita Church, her volunteer work with local hospitals, her time driving elderly shut-ins to church, and many others. After raising her family in both Chicago and Rockford, IL she retired with her husband Charles in Palm Coast, FL. Visitation will be held at 12 p.m. on November 14, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 4600 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast FL, 32164 followed by Catholic Mass at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the Oehler family requests donations to Loretta’s favorite charity: Poor Clare Colettine Nuns, 2111 South Main Street, Rockford, IL 61102.

Viewing and Visitation will begin at 12:00pm, and will be followed by the Funeral Mass at 1:00pm, Monday, November 14, 2022 and will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Pkwy, Palm Coast, FL 32164. Graveside services will follow at 2:15pm at Flagler Memorial Gardens, 511 Old Kings Rd S, Flagler Beach, FL 32136.

If sending flowers, please send them to the church directly for delivery Monday, November 14, 2022 by 11:30am.

Just heard about Loretta’s passing. She was wonderful. She helped me so much when I started teaching at St. Rita and her children were so great to have in class. So sad she’s no longer with us, but she’s in a better place where her dry sense of humor will make it even better. Love to Chuck and the family.

So sorry to hear about Loretta’s passing.
I had the privilege of knowing Loretta through her kids, and St Rita’s church for over 50 years
She was always in a good mood, very kind, and I never heard her say a bad word about anyone .
    Everyone loved her.
To her family, I would say that you were truly blessed to have had such a wonderful mother.
She left the world a better place, and I will truly miss her.

I am humbled by a woman I never met. I wish that weren't the case. My nephew, Brian, married the Oehler's daughter, Mary Fran. Through them, I knew of this remarkable woman, Loretta.
    God Bless
