Obituary

Mrs. Loretta Hill, age 94, of New Smyrna Beach passed away on August 2, 2016 at her residence under the generous care of Halifax Health Hospice and after an extended illness.  Formerly a resident of Charleston, WV, she and her late husband, Roy C. Hill, relocated to New Smyrna Beach in 1981 enjoying many years of retirement.  Prior to retiring, she was employed by St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, WV as a supervisory surgical nurse.   Roy preceded her in death in 1994.  They were married for 47 years.  Both were active members of the New Smyrna Beach Presbyterian Church.  Loretta was also involved with Sight Seekers for many years.   Loretta will be remembered as a loyal and trusted friend and for her insatiable determination to overcome obstacles.  Nearly blind for more than twenty years, she never complained of her limitations but remained active and contributed not only to her church but also to many others in the community.   She was preceded in death by her parents George H. and Grace Garrett Skeen, sisters Lorraine Rawling and Helen Hill.  Survivors include her niece, Lorra (Todd) Ensign, nephews Dr. P. Mark (Rebecca) Hill and Mr. John (Pepper) Hill, all of Indiana.   Services will be administered by Baldwin Brothers in New Smyrna Beach with The Reverend Beverly Richardson officiating.  Dr. P. Mark Hill will preside at grave side services at Tyler Mountain Memory Garden Cemetery in Charleston, WV at a later date.  In lieu of flowers Loretta requested that any memorial donations be made to:  First Presbyterian Church, 509 Magnolia St, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168, or Shriners Children’s Hospital, 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45229.
