Obituary
Louise Susan Jabbusch Sheldon, 91, of Port Orange, Florida, passed away on March 27 at her residence. A native of Elyria, Ohio, she has been a resident of this area since 2012, coming from Amherst, Ohio. She was born to Otto Jabbusch and Susan Fabian Jabbusch, graduated from Elyria High School in 1943 and later married the late John Morley Sheldon upon his return from World War II. She was the Director of Personnel and Human resources for Nordson Corporation prior to her retirement. She had studied Personnel management & Labor Relations at the University of Michigan and at Baldwin Wallace University. Louise was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Elyria, where she was a commissioned Stephen’s Minister, she also served on numerous committees and taught Sunday School for her church. She served her community on the PTA, was president of the Elyria Junior Women’s Club and was a charter member and founder of Abbe Road Community United Methodist Church. Louise enjoyed playing the organ, enjoyed family, traveling, sports, entertaining, cooking and baking.
Mrs. Sheldon was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Susan Jabbusch, brother Robert Jabbusch, sister Evelyn Hollis and her husband of 63 years, John M. Sheldon. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Fred L. (Mary Jane) Sheldon of Pinehurst, NC, Rob J. (Brenda) Sheldon of Pinehurst, Susan L. (Jim) McGonnell of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Molly A. (Mervin) Lofton of Tiffin, Ohio, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The family has requested memorials in her name to The First United Methodist Church of Elyria, Ohio.
They are going to celebrate her life on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 10:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Elyria, Ohio and they will receive friends for an hour prior to the service.
