Obituary

Lucia Loretta Shulten, 89, of Dennis Port, MA, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2022 in her winter home of Port Charlotte, FL.

Lucia was born in Worcester, MA on October 26, 1932, one of five children, to Michael and Anna (Granata) Pace.

Lucia graduated from Commerce High and worked for many years as a Bookkeeper and then as an Administrative Assistant at Quinsigamond Community College before retiring.

In 1956, Lucia married the love of her life, Richard J. Shulten Sr.  They shared 59 years together before his passing in 2016.  Together Lucia and Richard raised three children, shared treasured memories with family and friends, and spent precious time on the shores of Cape Cod.  Lucia loved her little Summer Salts cottage at the beach, lobster rolls, going out to lunch with family and friends, casino trips, thrifting, dinner shows, reading, sudoku, daily word puzzles, and above all else – taking care of her home and family.

Lucia is survived by her two daughters; Paula DeLorm and her husband David and Stephanie Law and her husband Jack; three cherished grandchildren Jessica and her husband Michael, Jaclyn and Joshua; two sisters Nina R. Crossman and Elvira Benoit; sisters-in-law Rosemary Pace and Charlotte Shulten; nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.  Lucia was predeceased by her husband Richard J. Shulten Sr. and her son Richard J. Shulten Jr.; brother Michael Pace and sister Rose Voutas.

Lucia’s funeral mass will be on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Rd, Worcester, MA followed by burial at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave, Paxton, MA.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial remembrances in Lucia’s name be made to Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod, 411 Main Street, Suite 6, Yarmouth Port, MA 02675 or www.habitatcapecod.org.

My deepest condolences to the Shulten family. My memories of Lou are from childhood to my twenties when she would take me to the park, lend me a gown for my senior prom and invite me to be in her wedding party. I cherish those memories. May she rest in eternal peace.
