Celebration of Life to be held at the First Unitarian Church, on July 06, 2014, at 4pm.
Luke F. Matthew completed his wonderful earthly life June 24, 2014. An Eastman School of Music graduate, Luke was a tremendous musician and played the Oboe, and the English Horn as his chosen instruments. Luke played in symphonies, bands and opera companies all over the East Coast and thoroughly enjoyed playing for 70 years. Very much an orderly person, Luke was either treasurer or president of every group to which he belonged. In the course of being president of a teachers' union, Luke lead a successful strike. Wow! A person of high integrity, Luke had a passion for the truth. He literally always told the truth! Luke is survived by his wife of 22 years, Patty, and adult children Ed (Carlene) Matthew of New York; Lawrence Matthew of Phoenix; Tom (Laura) Matthew of Tucson; Valerie (David) Drum of Tucson; Nicholas (Kim) Seslar of Fort Wayne; Maggie (Stephen) Reynolds-Dinon of Orlando; and Katie Reynolds of Portland, Oregon. He is survived by eight grandchildren and numerous loving friends. He will be greatly missed. "Farewell, Luke!"
