Lula Meadows, beloved wife of the late Richard Meadows passed away on January 15th, 2025 while surrounded by her family at the Barrington Assisted Living facility. She was 83 years old born in Opeilika Alabama to Roger and Mildred Tolbert September 5th 1941. Lula married the love of her life Richard Meadows and remained by his side for more than 60 years till the day of his passing in June 2023. Lula worked as a Registered Nurse in management positions for more than 25 years. She loved playing the slots at the casino, singing in choirs, vacationing on cruises, and game days at her community clubhouse. (Pokeno was her game)
Lula is survived by her loving children Aaron, Carolyn, Richie and their spouses Cecelia, Roger, and Miriam. She is also survived by her beloved sister Gloria, niece Ann, 10 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard and parents Mildred and Roger. The family of Lula Meadows are sincerely grateful for all the love and support our mother received from her friends in her community as well as her church family at Lee Blvd Baptist Church.
We wish to extend a special thanks to Maritza Fraticelli who became not only her caregiver but also confidant and family. Thank you to Hope Hospice for the support our mother received for a peaceful transition and passing. We are confident that she is now at peace with our Lord Jesus and reunited with her love and husband Richard.
You always made a stop here to get your favorite Black Cherry ice cream.

Thank you for bring an incredible woman and grandmother. You have taught me so much and I appreciate every story, every lesson, and all of the love you gave. May your kind heart live through us all.
I miss you so much, thank you for visiting me in my dreams. It was so heartwarming to see you and grandpa together and knowing that you are okay. Thank you for being there for me always and for witnessing the birth of my Zola and your 9th great grandchild. Love Amber
She's in a good place with no worries or ailments. Just peace, joy and love.
God bless her.
You and Richard were always so kind to me, and I'll always consider you both to be my 3rd set of grandparents that I was lucky enough to be loved by. I hope that you're at peace and feeling warmth and love during your next journey.
May she rest in peace in Jesus’ arms
A beautiful moment forever etched in my heart: dancing with my grandmother celebrating life, her laughter so vibrant and her smile so contagious it lit up the entire room. Many of my friends would stop and ask “ is that your grandma” she is so beautiful. We swayed together, the music binding us in a joy that felt timeless. I cherish this memory deeply, a testament to her love and the countless sacrifices she made for our family. Her stories are treasures I hold close, each one a reminder of her strength and wisdom. I miss her more than words can say, and I wish she were still here with us. In loving memory, Grandma—until we meet again.
Mom, so happy you got to see all the great grands 2 years ago. We loved having you. You will be missed greatly. We love you. Rest in peace

We had not communicated like we should, but I will always remember your beautiful smile and your infectious laughter. I will always remember your love and caring spirit that you’ve shown to your children, your sister and the family. We had the best family reunions. May you rest in the arms of the Lord and may you enjoy your reunion with the Smith family.
Oh how I miss you! I am so grateful to God for your friendship, your advice, and a listening ear when I needed one. It was a privilege to be your caregiver, friend and companion. We had some good times together - your favorite classical movies, sing alongs to Gladys Knight on our way to church, and when we laughed about you calling your ailments all this “foolishness”. You are now in the arms of our Father, singing with the heavenly choir. Lee and I will forever love and remember you.
