Mabel Blanche (Biccum) Ramsey
Mrs. Mabel Blanche (Biccum) Ramsey, 98, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. She was surrounded by loved ones at home. A long-time resident of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Mabel was born April 5, 1922 in Adams Center, NY. She was the daughter of the late John Biccum and the late Mary Matilda Craggen Biccum. She grew up with the love of 8 brothers and 6 sisters who predeceased her. She loved to share stories of the adventures of life on the farm in Theresa, NY with those siblings! She was married to Donald Ramsey for 63 years before his passing in 2013. They made their home in New Smyrna Beach for more than 50 years. They lived in Watertown, NY before moving to Florida. Mabel’s greatest love was for her children: John Ramsey (his beloved late wife, JoAnn), Wilbert Ramsey (his wife Betsy), Donna Ramsey Fitch (her husband Jerry Fitch), and Thomas Ramsey (his wife Julie). She was predeceased by her cherished infant daughter, Sharon. Mabel dedicated her life to being a homemaker and raising her children. She did her patriotic duty by working in a factory in New York during WWII with her sisters and the other women of the area. She had a generous heart and was most comfortable cooking delicious meals in her kitchen. She was most happy when she could feed anyone who walked through her doors.
