Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Marco Sierra is announcing his passing after a long and brave battle with debilitating age-related issues. He left this world on August 5th, 2024.
Marco was born in Havana, Cuba on November 17, 1936. He came to the United States with his mother Juana in 1947. Marco served as a firefighter in Miami for about 10 years then decided he wanted to work for himself. He opened Sierra Nautico selling boats, motors, and accessories in Coconut Grove. Marco was a supporter and volunteer for NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness) and a former member of Woodside Baptist Church.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving family including his wife Dolores and his children Tina, Marc, and Gretchen, his step-children Richard, Chuck, Robyn, Jim and their spouses and his grandchildren Stephanie, Michael, Lauren, Mateo, Jack, Mia, Tessa, Jonathan, Emily, Daniel, Sarah, Matthew, John, Michael and Thomas and 15 great-grandchildren.
The simplest pleasures in life gave Marco great joy. He loved arranging family get-togethers and being outdoors tending to his plants and beautiful orchids. He loved going to “Dolphin” games and was very happy with a scotch in one hand and a cigar in the other. His most recent hobby was flirting and charming the attendants at the Lodge nursing facility.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to NAMI at https://namimarioncountyfl.org/get-involved/donate/
